This family run business sprawls over five acres and is one of the largest and oldest in the country dealing in architectural salvage and antiques. Be prepared for the out of the ordinary here as you will currently find a Russian T34 tank, a 1958 Bloodhound missle and some Tornado Jet Fighter Cone covers amongst the staddlestones, oak beams, reclaimed building materials, a vast range of natural stone flooring and huge garden statues. Prices are highly competitive. Inside you will find solid wood kitchen units, a huge array of new, antique and vintage furniture, reclaimed doors, period fireplaces and authentic period fittings for the home. A great online shop where you can have items delivered directly to you – their specially designed cast iron bread oven doors are sold all over the world. If you need a huge statue of Buddha or the Wicked Witch of the Swans you will find it here and you can even take an online tour of the yard.

Based in a former Victorian railway station, this is one of a handful that opens on Sundays too. Fancy fountains for your garden, gothic gates, great lights, including stunning pendant lights. Great garden kit, including pergolas, a rather fancy stag statue I have my eye on, temples and troughs. They even sell “folly kits” everything you need to build your own! Toby’s main focus is on bespoke kitchens – they design and build from scratch with new and/or reclaimed materials. The same goes for bespoke furniture. Great radiators including some rather beautiful French ones. Going for over 25 years, they supply both new and reclaimed materials, bricks, ironmongery and bespoke furniture. Currently undergoing a major refurb, this is one not to miss.

With the majority of their stock sourced from within Somerset, this yard is perfect for local house renovations and has had lots of recommendations. A tidy, well displayed yard with good stocks of competitively priced bricks, Blue Lias flagstones, building stone, roofing materials etc. Undercover there is a huge selection of doors with around 500 always in stock. Beams and floorboards in elm, oak and pine, antique tools, bygones and currently hundreds of vintage wooden fruit trays. Specialists in country furniture, you’ll find beautifully restored chest-of-drawers, wardrobes and farmhouse tables. A handful of industrial items including cabinets, pigeon hole units and a fantastic cast iron engineering table. The yard is run by a friendly, knowledgeable team, watched over by Ernie the springer spaniel.

One of the largest stockists of architectural salvage and genuine reclaimed materials in the South West. Plenty of history and knowledge as this family run business has been going for 25 years. Specialists in reclaimed roof tiles and reclaimed bricks amongst other things. Lots of designers and builders head here. Searching for a coat of arms to go with your new house? You’ll likely find them here along with oak coffers, oak pews, copper lamps and cast iron stick stands. Huge selection of doors, (over 800 in stock) including 16th 17th studded doors and Georgian six panel doors, plus plenty of knobs and knockers. They specialize in 16th and 17th Century reproduction oak furniture with great oak four posters, dining table or your whole finished kitchen. Also produce beautifully made staircases all made in their workshops and specialize in replica flagstones (with over 50 mould designs) including Blue Lias and Purbeck flagstone shades. Their resident stone masons make great natural stone fireplaces carved to required sizes, mainly using local Hamstone, Bath Stone and Portland. Highlights currently in stock include 2 massive 14ft high Portland Stone columns and some stunning church screens. Oak flooring can be supplied in various widths and unfinished or aged. Also have unusual mullioned windows, balustrades and stone staircases often in stock, plus cast iron guttering. Serious craftsmen here to make exactly what you want if you can’t find it. Should you have a pool they also make great pool surrounds and have some beautiful stone carved windows, a Hamstone stone cross and a cast iron kissing gate. Some great pewter to rifle through too. Stained glass panels, stone windows, timber, great elegant taps, pub fixtures, pews, oak doors, specializing in reclaimed fireplaces, cast iron and Cotswolds stone. Garden furniture, Napoleonic granite troughs, staddlestones, stone planters, capitals. Hardware and Ironware. They also have their own woodworking area where they make some items from reclaimed timber (and iron), including benches and doors and often to be found to have the harder to come by iron spiral staircases. One of the larger suppliers of reclaimed architectural features. With roots in environmentalism, they’re well known for their specialist dismantling team. They supply many of the big gardens and stately homes in the UK with original garden objects and architectural features. Georgian and Victorian garden furniture, with a huge range of stunning garden ornaments, sun dials and a sandstone river god on a plinth, fountains and urns. Gothic cast iron balustrade from Westminster Bridge, a Portland stone rotunda (at £85,000) obelisks, capitals and finials showing their attention to detail and beautiful stone mullion windows. Great selection of reclaimed doors, plus bespoke doors made, and eye catching door knobs both reclaimed and reproduction.
